“It was hard to know who was more crazy... me... or everyone else." – Mad Max, Fury Road

I’m a huge fan of the 2015 remake of Mad Max. The cinematography, the acting, the special effects. I love it all. Hand down. Valhalla!!

I’m honestly not sure what gave me the idea, but one day I thought Ranger would look pretty fierce as Immortan Joe. I knew it’d be a fun cosplay to do for him, but would take hours of set work. In fact, it took hours over months… to create Furry Road!

I started planning it in December 2025, found the toy car (broken) to revamp into his war vehicle. I found a used faux jacket at the thrift store. Hand crafted medals and the mask out of clay, tinfoil, paint, and fabric. The mask I used hosing from Walmart and sewed a custom band to hook it onto Ranger. I then had him practice in the outfit about 10-15 times to get used to it prior to the photo shoot day. LOTS OF TREATS! He became so used to the outfit, mask and all, I knew he’s rock it on the day of the shoot!

Now, the funny part. Logistically I had no plan on how I was going to move a nonoperational kids ride in car into a desert with my dog and camera gear. I camped, showed up, and brought a rope that I was going to tug the car about a mile into the desert along with the props. And hope I didn’t give up once trying to go up the steep incline of dunes… it was a terrible plan. Really, but hey, when your heart is in it, do it! Anyone who knows me know I have drive to make my plans happen. I lucked out though! A kind camper named Dave came over to meet me, Ranger (my dog), and ask about my revamped kids car.  I told him my plans and he said, hey at sunrise I’ll be up and I’ll take you guys out in my 4x4 and we can simply tow the kids car behind it. Amazing! We were so grateful for the help! Ranger and I would not have gotten these epic shots so high in the dunes if I had to drag that car up the dunes. While I'm strong and stubborn, I'm not that strong! 

Ranger was scared of the 4x4 ride at first, but quickly fell head over heels with the ride and the dunes! He zoomed all about, shoved his feet in the sand to dig, smiled and bolted about. Then he would run to the 4x4, bark, and ask to ride in it again, and again! He's so dang cute! He had been wanting to get in the ‘trunk’ of the kids car for ages but I didn’t let him because I wanted him to do it on cue for the first time here. He was perfect! I told him up, he got in, and he posed but he even barked at me which I caught mid action so it looked like he is yelling in the back of his war rig! This was purely a creative passion project & I’m thrilled with the result! I printed two huge prints from the shoot for our master bedroom. I know, mad!
